Cooper Associates County Ground

The landscape changed between 2008 and 2011. The Marcus Trescothick Stand, opened in 2008, and the Somerset Stand, which followed in 2009, were added to the perimeter. The Colin Atkinson Pavilion reopened in 2010, and the Ondaatje Pavilion was completed the next year. The capacity expanded to 8,500, though the ground can stretch to 12,500 with temporary seating when international matches arrive. The surface remains natural grass on sandy loam.

The ground has witnessed moments that sit outside the daily routine. In 1999, India and Sri Lanka played a match where they built a 318-run partnership. More recently, the 2019 Cricket World Cup brought teams like New Zealand and Australia to Taunton. Even the first Men’s T20 International, a tie between England and South Africa in 2017, happened here.
