Über den Spieler
Am 13. September 2025 traf Wagane Faye zum 1:0-Sieg gegen den Ligariesen Club Brügge – ein Ergebnis, das in der Jupiler Pro League als handfeste Überraschung galt.
Fayes Weg in den Profifußball begann in Dakar, wo er von 2007 bis 2016 an der Akademie von Génération Foot ausgebildet wurde. Im August 2016 wechselte er nach Belgien zu RFC Seraing (1922) und blieb dort sechs Jahre lang, in denen er auf 125 Ligaeinsätze und drei Tore kam. Am 1. Juli 2022 verließ er den Klub und schloss sich ablösefrei RAAL La Louvière an.
Bei RAAL wurde der Rechtsfuß zum Kapitän und trägt die Rückennummer 4. Bis Mai 2026 stehen für ihn 106 Ligaspiele und vier Tore für den Klub zu Buche. Faye verlängerte zuletzt seinen Vertrag und blieb damit Teil der Mannschaft, die nach dem historischen Aufstieg in der Saison 2025/26 erstmals in der höchsten belgischen Spielklasse antrat.
