Über den Spieler
Bei Aston Villa fing alles an, im Alter von acht Jahren kam Cameron Archer in die Jugendakademie des Klubs, sein Debüt für die erste Mannschaft gab er 2019. Bei Solihull Moors und Preston North End sammelte er Erfahrung, in Preston wurde er in der Saison 2021/22 sogar bester Torschütze des EFL Trophy. Eine weitere Leihe führte ihn zu Middlesbrough.
Im August 2023 wechselte Archer für eine Ablösesumme von berichteten 18 Millionen Pfund zu Sheffield United. Der Abstieg des Klubs am Saisonende hatte für ihn Folgen: Eine Rückkaufklausel wurde ausgelöst, und im Juni 2024 kehrte er zu Aston Villa zurück. Lange blieb er dort nicht, im August 2024 wechselte er für rund 15 Millionen Pfund plus Boni zum FC Southampton. Im September 2026 zog es ihn erneut auf Leihbasis weiter, für eine Saison zu Auxerre – sein Debüt dort feierte er gleich mit einem Tor gegen Lyon.
International spielte Archer bislang für die englischen Nachwuchsauswahlen. Für die U20 lief er zweimal auf, für die U21 elfmal, dabei erzielte er sechs Tore. Mit der U21 gewann er 2023 die Europameisterschaft, im Finale gegen Spanien kam er von der Bank.
