Über den Spieler
Der Weg dorthin war ungewöhnlich. Barry durchlief ab 2009 die Nachwuchsabteilung von West Bromwich Albion und wechselte im Juli 2019 für etwa 250.000 Pfund plus Ausbildungsentschädigung zum FC Barcelona. Bereits im Januar 2020 verließ er Katalonien wieder und ging zu Aston Villa. Die Ablöse lag zunächst bei 880.000 Pfund und konnte mit Bonuszahlungen auf 3,5 Millionen steigen.
Für England spielte er in mehreren Jugendauswahlen: 10 Einsätze und 5 Tore in der U15, 10 Einsätze und 7 Tore in der U16, 4 Einsätze und 2 Tore in der U17 sowie ein Einsatz in der U18. Im August 2025 erklärte er, künftig für die A-Nationalmannschaft der Republik Irland spielen zu wollen.
