Über den Spieler
Als Fotis Ioannidis im September 2025 zu Sporting CP wechselte, war das kein gewöhnlicher Transfer für einen griechischen Stürmer: 25 Millionen Euro fest plus Boni, ein Vertrag bis 2030 und eine Ausstiegsklausel von 100 Millionen Euro sprechen für sich. Panathinaikos behält zudem 25 Prozent einer künftigen Weiterverkaufssumme.
Diese Investition begann 2020, als Panathinaikos ihn für 4,5 Millionen Euro von Levadiakos verpflichtete. Dort hatte Ioannidis seine ersten Profijahre verbracht, war mit dem Klub 2019/20 in die Super League 2 abgestiegen und hatte in seiner letzten Saison bei Levadiakos in 20 Spielen fünf Tore erzielt. In fünf Spielzeiten kam er auf 190 Pflichtspiele und 51 Tore für Panathinaikos.
Auch international hat sich Ioannidis etabliert. Sein Debüt für Griechenland gab er im September 2022 in der Nations League gegen Zypern. Seither hat er sich in Anwesenheit von 21 Länderspielen und sechs Toren einen Namen gemacht, darunter Treffer gegen Frankreich, Kasachstan und Bulgarien sowie ein Doppelpack gegen Finnland.
