Кубок Румынии женщины (Румыния) 2026/27

The Romanian Women's Basketball Cup presents a distinct competitive format within the national pyramid. While the league determines the primary champion, this tournament operates as a standalone knockout trophy. The structure has evolved significantly over time. Historically, the event involved preliminary rounds including teams from lower divisions. In recent seasons, the organization streamlined the process into a Final Four mini-tournament. This final stage consists of two semi-finals and a final match, all played at a single venue over a short period. The number of participants varies, but the decisive stage always features four clubs.

Winning this competition carries significant weight, though it does not guarantee automatic qualification for European tournaments like the EuroLeague Women. European spots are primarily allocated based on league standings. However, the Cup winner often receives a berth in the EuroCup Women or the FIBA Europe Cup, depending on FIBA's country allocation and federation regulations for the specific season. There is no promotion or relegation associated with the Cup, as it is not a league competition.

The competition has a long history, dating back to its founding in 1965. The most successful clubs in the history of the tournament are CSM Târgoviște and Sepsi SIC Sfântu Gheorghe. Both teams are tied with 10 titles each. CSM Târgoviște won their titles between 2002 and 2017. Sepsi SIC dominated from 2015 onwards, winning seven consecutive titles from 2018 to 2023. The 2025 edition was won by Sepsi SIC Sfântu Gheorghe. This stands in contrast to the Super Cup, which is a single-match contest played at the start of the season between the league champion and the Cup winner. The Cup remains the more historically significant trophy, involving a multi-stage knockout process.
