TNPL (Индия) 2021/22

Cricket league in India Tamil Nadu Premier League is a professional Twenty20 tournament established in 2016 by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The league operates as a developmental platform for local talent, distinct from the national Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which features state associations. It is officially recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India as a state-level competition. The structure brings together eight city-based franchises in a single round-robin stage. Every team faces each other once. The top four sides advance to playoffs following the IPL pattern: Qualifier 1 matches the first and second-placed teams, the Eliminator pits third against fourth. The loser of the first qualifier plays the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2, with the victor meeting the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final. There is no promotion or relegation; participation depends on the franchise bidding process managed by the TNCA. Chepauk Super Gillies hold the record for most victories, claiming the title four times in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022. The 2022 championship was shared between Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans became the current reigning champions after winning their maiden title in 2025. The roster includes IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Chepauk Super Gillies, Salem Spartans, Ruby Trichy Warriors, Nellai Royal Kings and Lyca Kovai Kings. Some squads have undergone rebranding; notably the Tuti Patriots are now known as the Nellai Royal Kings. A defining feature of the league is its focus on local talent. Unlike the Indian Premier League, international players are not permitted. The primary goal remains player development for state selection and scouting opportunities within the domestic circuit. The competition serves as a crucial bridge for emerging cricketers from the region to reach higher levels of the sport.
