Tanzania beat Singapore 106:103 at home on Sunday in Group B of the Call Up League. The result leaves the hosts five points clear of their neighbours in the table.
They were reduced to a three-point gap between themselves and sixth-placed Singapore, who remain winless in the competition. The loss extends Singapore's run of fourteen straight defeats.
Tanzania had looked shaky of late, losing heavily to Uganda twice and edging Hong Kong in a close one. They kept their side in it against Singapore though, finding a way through in the closing moments.
Singapore were competitive for stretches, losing by just one point to Italy and Uganda in earlier games. But they found no answer to Tanzania's intensity when it mattered.
With eight points from thirteen games, Tanzania are in control of their own destiny. Singapore sit on a solitary point from fourteen outings, staring at the drop.
