Editorial policy

These rules describe how Sportpul material is produced and what the newsroom is responsible for. They apply to every section: news, match reports, reference pages for clubs, players and venues, and forecasts.

Sources

Scores, fixtures, line-ups and tables come from a sports data provider. Reference facts — a club's founding year, a player's biography, a stadium's capacity — are collected from public sources, and the links are listed under the material.

We do not publish a fact without a source. Where provider data and a source disagree, the text keeps what can be confirmed and notes the discrepancy.

Where the algorithm works

The algorithm collects facts from the database, puts them in order and prepares a draft. It does not invent events and does not add opinions: everything in the material must exist in the data or in a source.

The newsroom is responsible for what is published. A piece that adds nothing to the original source is not published at all.

What we do not publish

  • rumours without a source;
  • private-life details unrelated to sport;
  • medical details beyond a club's official statement;
  • third-party photographs without a licence and credit.

Corrections

Data errors are fixed as soon as we learn of them. A correction to a text is marked inside the article: readers should see that a text changed and what changed. Material is not quietly deleted — a correction is published instead.

Forecasts

A forecast is a statistical model's estimate of an outcome, not betting advice. We are not tied to bookmakers and earn nothing from readers' bets. Accuracy is published openly and counted only on finished events; a forecast is fixed before kick-off and never changed afterwards.

Images

Photographs are used only under free licences, with the author and licence named beneath. Club crests and competition marks are shown as identifying marks of the organisations concerned.

Advertising

Advertising is labelled and kept apart from editorial material. Advertisers have no influence on content, on forecasts or on the order in which results are shown.
