Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium

The ground carries a coach's name, and that is the first thing to know about it. When it opened on 26 July 2014, the Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the ceremony and announced that the stadium would be named after Fatih Terim. The working title until then had been Başakşehir Arena; that name was never used, and in the years since the ground has not been renamed once.

Başakşehir itself explains a good deal. The district sits well out on the European side of Istanbul, and the stadium's own address reads that way: fourth stage, Başak neighbourhood, Yunus Emre Boulevard, postcode 34480. It was placed in a planned district, on ground set aside for it, and the approach is by boulevard.

The playing surface is natural grass , kept so since the ground opened.

The seating bowl was built to that number from the start; the line has barely moved since.
