Estádio Municipal de Arouca
Estádio Municipal de Arouca was built as a municipal ground.
The turning point came in 2013, when FC Arouca earned promotion to the Portuguese top flight and the ground had to be brought up to licensing standard before the season began. Work finished on 31 July that year. A new west stand went up alongside the existing east and south sides, the dressing rooms and gyms were rebuilt, corporate boxes were added, and the running track around the pitch was surfaced. A further paving job on the track followed in 2015, costing around €25,000.
Even after all that, the ground stayed small, and its limits showed.
The design came from AARQ, Atelier de Arquitectura, with José Eduardo Silvestre named as architect; Construções Carlos Pinho, Lda carried out the build. Natural grass, then as now.
