Segesta took all three points against Orient 1919 in the opening round of the First NL, closing out a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. The hosts found themselves behind early, but a second-half turnaround saw them pull away at the Krapina Stadium. It was a result that kept both sides level on four points after three matches.
S. Sanogo opened the scoring in the 41st minute, giving Segesta an advantage they would not surrender. Orient 1919 responded quickly, with T. Kukoc finding the net just two minutes into stoppage time. The visitors worked the channels well enough to threaten, but they paid for a sloppy opening. By then, Segesta had already established a rhythm that served them through the remainder of the half.
Segesta's manager made changes that shifted the game. M. Brkic and B. Kunert came on together in the 61st minute, and the visitors struggled to contain the renewed energy. D. Spehar and F. Andrijasevic struck in quick succession in the 82nd and 84th minutes to close the game out. Orient 1919 had made their own substitutions, with J. Bilajac and T. Sibi arriving in the 58th minute, but they could not find a fourth.
The statistics told a story of a tight contest. Orient 1919 held a slight edge in possession at 52 per cent and registered more attacks, but Segesta were sharper in front of goal. Six shots on target produced three goals for the hosts, while four on target yielded only one for the visitors. The difference came in efficiency, not volume.
Both teams remain in the middle of the table with identical records — one win, one draw, one defeat. Segesta sit eighth, Orient 1919 sixth, and the gap between them is purely positional. The result extended Segesta's recent form, following on from their 2-0 win over Dubrava Zagreb and a series of mixed results across the opening weeks. Orient 1919 will look to build on their 3-0 victory over Rudar Prijedor, but they know they need to be more clinical if they are to move forward.
