Gradski Stadion
Podgorica's Gradski Stadion belongs to the city, not to FK Budućnost, the club that has played its home fixtures there for decades. That distinction shapes how it is run: the municipal owner rather than a club treasury decides on upkeep, and the ground has hosted the Montenegrin Cup final on that basis rather than as a home advantage for any single tenant.
The name has outlasted the city it sits in. Podgorica was called Titograd from 1946 until 1992, and the stadium is still remembered informally from that era as the Titograd Stadium — but the ground itself never adopted the change, staying Gradski Stadion, or locally "Pod Goricom," throughout.
It opened in 1945, in the first months after the war, though the club's own account points to 1947 for the first proper build, a wooden stand that later burned down in 1954. A reconstruction between 2004 and 2006 replaced the terraces with individual seating, added a new East Stand, extended the ends, and put roofs over the stands; floodlighting rated at 1,900 lux followed around 2009.
Its biggest crowd came on 27 August 1975, when 20,000 turned out for a Yugoslav First League fixture between Budućnost and Hajduk Split, which finished 1-2 — a figure the current 4,000 capacity makes hard to picture. The ground also carries the weight of a national first: Montenegro's senior side played its debut international here on 24 March 2007, beating Hungary 2-1, a few months after independence.
