Al Maktoum Stadium

Al Maktoum Stadium sits in Oud Metha. The Oud Metha ground dates its opening to 1981, though the site had already been in use through the 1970s before that formal reopening.

What sets it apart from the newer bowls built across the Gulf for single tournaments is that it was reworked rather than replaced. Ahead of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the stadium went through a reconstruction stretching from 2017 into 2019, carried out by Omar Bin Eid Architects with Bin Ladin Contracting as the general contractor. The work is put at around 80 million US dollars, roughly 300 million dirhams, and it left the ground with a hybrid pitch — natural grass reinforced with a small share of synthetic fibre and fitted with an undersoil heating system. That made it the first surface of its kind in the UAE.

The reconstruction also settled the stadium's capacity at 15,058. Al-Nasr SC uses it as one of its bases, and Al-Wasl SC has also played matches there.
