Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer & Track Stadium
Corpus Christi, United States
The ground sits on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and it was built by the university for two sports that rarely share a home so evenly. An eight-lane synthetic track, 400m round, encircles the artificial pitch, so the women's soccer team and the track and field squad both count it as their own address rather than one borrowing from the other.
That double use shows in what the venue has been asked to host. The Southland Conference has brought both its soccer and its track and field championships here, and the ground has taken in high school competition as well, including the Region IV-3A Championship — meaning the same surface has staged college finals and schools meets within the same calendar.
The seating tells only part of the story. The stands are laid out for a thousand, but on 5 September 2014 a crowd of 1,908 came in for a women's soccer match against the University of Texas, the largest the ground has recorded. It remains the outlier: a fixture against a state-level opponent, on a campus where the soccer team does not usually draw from beyond it, with the overflow accommodated where it could be.
The name has not changed since the grand opening in August 2013. The Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium opened under that title and has carried it since.
