Estádio Cidade de Coimbra
The Estádio Municipal de Coimbra opened in 1949 as the Estádio do Calhabé.
On 27 September 2003 the Rolling Stones played the new arena, a fortnight after a formal ceremonial opening on 12 September — but it set the stadium's capacity at 29,622.
Académica de Coimbra plays its home matches here, and the ground has carried the club's sponsors through several names since the rebuild — Estádio Finibanco Cidade de Coimbra between 2006 and 2011, and Estádio EFAPEL Cidade de Coimbra since. The national team has used the venue sparingly but repeatedly, with eight Portugal fixtures played there across qualifying campaigns for Euro 2000, Euro 2008 and the 2014 World Cup, and Portugal's rugby side has also turned up for matches against Japan, the United States and Canada. On the club's European nights, Académica hosted Benfica in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup and Viktoria Plzeň in a Europa League qualifier in 2012.
