The roof is the thing you see first from the ring road: an elliptical dome carried on 32 radial consoles. Dmitry Bush of the Moscow practice PI "ARENA" drew it, working with the local firm TerrNIIGrajdankproekt.
It was finished on 21 April 2018 , tested a week later with Krylya Sovetov against Fakel on 28 April, and opened formally on 6 May — a fortnight before the 2018 FIFA World Cup .
The bill came to roughly 18.9 billion roubles, against the 13.16 billion estimated in 2013. What followed was less tidy: rust reported on metal structures, more than 800 defects logged by Rostekhnadzor, and the general contractor PSO "Kazan" going bankrupt with its warranty obligations unmet.
The largest crowd it has held came not from football but from the thirtieth "Russian Student Spring" festival on 18 May 2022 — about 45,000. Krylya Sovetov and Akron Tolyatti both play here.
