In 1961 Spartak Varna beat Levski Sofia 1-0 and Botev Plovdiv 2-1 on the way, then lost 0-3 to CSKA Sofia.

The most recent change came in 2019 and 2020, paid for from the national budget at 1.4 million BGN. The playing surface was lifted and relaid, the stands and the main building rebuilt with a canopy, and new dressing rooms, referees' rooms, media facilities and a press conference room went in. A lift and ramps were added, and a separate warm-up pitch built alongside. A second phase, with a fan stand and landscaping, was set out but belongs to the plans rather than to the ground as it stands. The club now seats 7,000, down from the 10,000 of 1964.
