The fixture between Austria and Belgium is not a domestic league but a bilateral Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket series. Both nations are Associate Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and hold full T20I status for matches played between them since January 1, 2019. The series are organized by the respective national federations: the Austrian Cricket Association (ACA), founded in 1981, and the Belgian Cricket Federation (BCF), which became an ICC Affiliate Member in 1991 and an Associate Member in 2005.
The teams compete regularly within the European Cricket Network (ECN) framework, which organizes regional tournaments like the European Cricket Championship (ECC). The ECC, revived in 2021, is a T10-format tournament that introduced a tiered divisional system in 2024, featuring a Premier Division and a Challenger Division with promotion and relegation between them. Austria competes in the Premier Division, while Belgium competes in the Challenger Division.
Notable bilateral series include the 2021 tour of Belgium, where Belgium won 2-1; the 2024 tour of Austria; and the 2025 series in Austria, which Austria won 3-0. As of 2026, Belgium leads the head-to-head T20I record 8-4 against Austria, with 12 matches played since their first encounter in July 2021. Domestically, Austria's top tier is the ACA T20 League, which replaced the suspended 50-over ACA Open League, featuring a group stage and knockout semi-finals. Belgium's top domestic competition is the ECS Belgium Premier, a T10 franchise league with 5 teams in the 2026 season, operating alongside a Challenger division.
The rivalry lacks the historical depth of other European fixtures, such as the Netherlands-Belgium rivalry, and is primarily characterized by competitive regional development matches.
