The Malaysia Tri-Nation T20I Series operates as a recurring bilateral tournament rather than a domestic or World Cup qualifier event. The series began in 2019, featuring Malaysia, Maldives, and Thailand, with Malaysia securing victory. The 2023 edition took place in September with Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Papua New Guinea; Papua New Guinea won the tournament unbeaten. The most recent edition occurred in March 2025 and included Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Bahrain won the 2025 title, defeating Hong Kong in the final.

A notable record from the 2025 series was Bahrain becoming the first team in T20I history to score zero runs in a Super Over.
