AEK Athens beat St. Truiden 3:0 in a club friendly on 2 August 2026. The hosts controlled proceedings from the opening whistle and never looked back. St. Truiden had nothing to show for their attacking attempts by the final whistle.
S. Pilios opened the scoring in the seventh minute. He found space in the box and finished cleanly to give AEK the lead they would not relinquish. To be fair, the home side had already shown they meant business.
By then, the twenty-minute mark was approaching and the gap was clear. Pilios doubled his tally in the eighteenth minute, capitalising on a defensive hesitation. The visitors had crossed into the penalty area but could not trouble the goalkeeper.
L. Jovic added a third in the forty-first minute, extending the advantage before half-time. AEK stretched the back line and came for a cross he never reached. St. Truiden simply could not respond after conceding three goals in forty-one minutes.
The statistics tell a similar story. AEK registered 64 attacks against 85 for the visitors, yet their shots on target were far more decisive. Five shots on target produced three goals, while St. Truiden managed only two shots on target with nothing to show. Possession was shared fairly evenly at 53 per cent to 47 per cent, but the numbers do not tell the full story.
The result extends AEK's unbeaten run from their recent friendlies. They had lost 1:2 to Samsunspor on 29 July before winning three of five matches. St. Truiden's run of four games without defeat came to an end here, after they had beaten Lierse 1:0 and Lucerne 2:1 in their previous outings.
