Asan Greeners and Songnam met in the 23rd round of the K-League 2 on Saturday. The visitors took all three points with a 2:1 win at the home ground. It was a result that surprised nobody who had watched the visitors' recent form.
Kim Jung-Hyun opened the scoring in the 40th minute. Before that, the hosts had a reason to complain when Cho Ji-Hun picked up a yellow card in the 34th. And here's the thing — that card came after a period of pressure from Songnam, who were already looking sharper.
The visitors took the lead when Rodrigo Angelotti found the net in the 77th minute. That goal shifted everything. By then, Asan had been forced into several changes, including a double substitution at half-time with Ryu Jun-sun and Lee Jeong-Bin coming on.
M. Jeon sealed the result with a goal in the 90th minute. The hosts threw everything at it in the closing stages. They made more changes than the visitors — Gabriel Lima, Kim In-Sung and Cho Ji-Hun all came off together in the 83rd minute.
The numbers tell a balanced story. Both sides held 50 per cent possession. Songnam were more clinical with six shots on target for three goals, while Asan managed just two attempts on target for one goal.
The win moves Songnam up to 10th place with 27 points from 22 games. Asan sit 16th with 19 points after 23 matches. To be fair, this result keeps the visitors within touching distance of the play-off places, while the hosts remain in the lower half.
