Gimpo have spent every season since 2022 in K League 2, South Korea's second tier. The 2021 K3 League title came through a play-off final against Cheonan City, decided 3–2 over two legs — the first trophy the club had ever held.
The name on the team sheet changed that same year. Until January 2021 this was Gimpo Citizen FC; the shortened Gimpo FC arrived alongside the promotion push, and the club has carried it through its time in the professional divisions.
The cup record is thinner but not empty. In 2018 Gimpo reached the last 16 of the Korean FA Cup and ran into Suwon Samsung Bluewings, who put six past them. The following year brought a 4–0 win over Yonsei University in the third round. The deepest run came in 2024/25, a quarter-final — reached, this time, as a second-division club rather than a third-tier one.
