Peterborough United U21 secured a 3-2 win against Swansea City U21 in the Professional Development League on Tuesday. The result leaves the visitors fourth in the table with six points from two matches, while the hosts drop to ninth after three games and three points.
Peterborough took the lead in the twentieth minute through E. Abbey. They doubled their advantage with two penalties in quick succession, both taken by T. Woodward at thirty-two and thirty-four minutes. Swansea responded after the break, finding the net at fifty-two and fifty-seven minutes to level the score.
The visitors regained control with P. Sykut scoring at fifty-three and fifty-six minutes. J. Davies added a seventh goal at seventy-one minutes, though the final scoreline remains 2-3.
Swansea's recent form has been inconsistent. They beat Birmingham City 3-0 on August fourteenth but lost 2-0 to Sheffield United three days later. Their only previous meeting with Peterborough ended 2-1 to the hosts in April.
Peterborough have won both matches this season, including a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on August eighteenth. They sit two points clear of the teams around them with one game played fewer.
The result means Peterborough remain unbeaten while Swansea take a step back after three consecutive matches without a win.
