A. Bitegeko

Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko's career has run almost entirely outside the spotlight of his homeland — before he became, on signing for Kaizer Chiefs, the first Tanzanian player in the club's history. Born in Bukoba, he left Tanzania as a young player for brief spells in Norway and Finland before his career properly took shape in Iceland, where he joined KR Reykjavík in June 2018. A loan to Keflavík the following year brought 21 appearances and four goals, before he returned to KR and later moved on to Völsungur in the Icelandic second tier. Bitegeko went back to Tanzania in January 2024, rejoining Azam FC on a free transfer, and it was there that he captained the side. He helped Azam to third place in the 2025/26 Tanzanian Premier League, though a Federation Cup final ended in defeat to Yanga in 2024. He made his senior debut for Tanzania in June 2024 in a World Cup qualifier against Zambia, won 1-0, under coach Adel Amrouche, and had earned five caps by the end of that year. Bitegeko arrives at the club as the first of his nationality to wear the Chiefs shirt since the club's founding in 1970.
