Düdingen

A handful of young men from the Fribourg commune of Düdingen wanted a football side of their own, and settled the matter at a meeting in the Hotel Bahnhof. Out of that gathering, on 1 July 1924, came SC Düdingen, playing in red and yellow ever since — red at home, yellow on the road.

Fifty-four years passed before the club's first real success: in 1978, Düdingen won the 2. Liga title and moved up to 1. Liga for the first time in its history. The senior side's best finish there came decades later, in the 2009/10 season, when it closed fourth with 47 points. The club has also been named Freiburg cantonal champion, though nothing in the record says when.

The sharper story of late runs through the academy. Düdingen's Junior A side took the Swiss championship in 2015, 2018 and 2022, a run local German-language newspapers labelled the club's golden generation. Three titles in eight years is more than the first team has managed across its entire history.

Home matches are played at Stadion Birchhölzli. The senior side has spent most of its history around the 1. Liga level and has yet to push on to anything higher.
