Virgilio Tejeira Andrión donated the plot at Llano Marín, on the El Coco side of Penonomé, and the Panamanian Football Federation built on it with FIFA money — first through the Goal Project, later through FIFA Forward. Jack Warner, then president of CONCACAF, opened it.

What went up was modest and has stayed that way: cement bleachers under a roof, 900 places.

The rebuild came later. Work funded through FIFA Forward — costing 1,082,554 Balboas across its phases — waterproofed the stands and the roof, put in ramps and new facilities, and laid a FIFA Quality Pro synthetic surface. The complex was reinaugurated in March 2019.

Unión Coclé FC play their Liga Prom football here; so do Club Deportivo Universitario and the Universidad Latina women's side. The Liga Provincial de Coclé uses it. Panama's national teams, senior and youth, have trained and played on the pitch. In 2008, when San Francisco F.C. and Atlético Veragüense had their own grounds under remodelling, both moved to Penonomé for a spell and then went back.

It was built to be used, and it has been.
