Pervukhin: Eniseï-STM to Face Kazan in Russian Cup Semi-Final

Coach Aleksandr Pervukhin says Eniseï-STM's second-place finish moves the Russian Cup final away from Krasnoyarsk ahead of a semi-final against Kazan.

Aleksandr Pervukhin, head coach of Eniseï-STM, noted the final moves from Krasnoyarsk and praised the youth integration.

"I'm not happy with the result, because second place in the regular championship doesn't guarantee the final in Krasnoyarsk, the way it has in recent years, and that matters to us. I am happy that in the second half 13 players took the field from the group born between 2000 and 2007, and the team looked very decent — that's pleasing. Ahead of us is the Russian Cup final and two weeks of preparation, so we move on. The semi-final against Kazan will definitely be interesting for our championship. Any of the four teams could have been picked as an opponent — there would have been intrigue in every pairing. I think both the end of the championship and the Russian Cup final will be electric," said Pervukhin, quoted by the club's press service.

Eniseï-STM closed the regular championship on 47 points, having lost twice to Dinamo Moscow. Dinamo went through the regular season losing only once in 12 games, taking the title for the first time and setting up a Russian Cup meeting with Eniseï-STM on 27 September. Eniseï-STM's own semi-final in the play-offs pits them against Kazan's Strela-Ak Bars.
