Vysoké Mýto — Vlašim: 2:4, Cup

Vlčany beat Vysoké Mýto 4-2 in the Round of 128 of the Cup on Monday evening. The away side took control early and never looked back, despite a spirited home fightback. Three goals came in the first half alone, with D. Kasparek netting twice for the visitors.

Kasparek opened the scoring in the 4th minute, catching the home defence off guard. To be fair, Vysoké Mýto had not yet found their rhythm, but the visitors made no mistake. Rehak doubled the lead in the 21st minute before Kasparek added his second in the 34th minute.

The hosts pulled one back in the 74th minute, but by then the tie was already slipping away. Vlčany restored their two-goal cushion in the 80th minute and sealed victory five minutes later. The away end never stopped, even as the home crowd grew restless.

Statistics tell the story of a game one way, and here's the thing — Vlčany had more possession and more shots on target, but the quality of chances mattered more. The visitors registered 58 per cent possession against 42 per cent, with four shots on target to three. Attacks came 94-85 in their favour, though both sides showed similar discipline with one yellow card each.

The result extends Vlčany's unbeaten run, following their 4-1 victory over Viktoria Žižkov on Thursday. Vysoké Mýto, meanwhile, will look back at their opening week 8-1 win over Letohrádek and wonder what happened. Cup football rarely rewards complacency.
