About the player
Mehdi Jeannin is not a Sochaux product in the strict sense, but the club is now a familiar home for him twice over. Born in Besançon, he came through the youth ranks at SC François Serre Les Sapins before moving on to Racing Besançon and AS Ornans, where he made his senior debut in 2010. Clermont Foot picked him up the following year, and it was there that he built his career in earnest, making 107 official appearances between the league and the two domestic cups. During that spell at Clermont he also served as the squad's UNFP club delegate for a season.
Jeannin left Clermont for Sochaux on a free transfer in January 2020, with 13 appearances before he moved on again. Pau FC took him on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, and he stayed there until 2025, when he returned to Sochaux once more, again arriving without a fee. Sochaux finished the 2025–2026 season as Vice-Champion of the National division, securing promotion back to Ligue 2 with Jeannin part of the squad.
Internationally, Jeannin was called up to the Algeria national team in September 2015 for friendlies against Guinea and Senegal, and he was later included in the squad for Africa Cup of Nations qualification in 2019. Sources differ on whether that call-up translated into an actual cap.
