Mehdi Merghem

Mehdi Merghem came through the youth ranks at Châteauroux and worked his way into the first team, spending three seasons there before Guingamp signed him in 2019. A loan spell at Nancy in 2020–21 was disrupted by a knee injury picked up in a pre-season friendly, and back at Guingamp he was hit again in October 2022, when a relapsed thigh problem combined with a partial ankle ligament rupture. He fought through it to become a regular for Guingamp's 2023–24 Ligue 2 campaign, making 35 appearances.

A return to Algeria followed in January 2025 with USM Alger, where he scored in the league before another injury, this time in the Algerian Cup semi-final, kept him out for four weeks. A brief stint at JS Kabylie came next before his contract there was terminated, opening the way to Bastia, which he joined on a free transfer in February 2026.

Merghem also represents Algeria's A' national side, making his debut against Uganda in the 2024 African Nations Championship squad and going on to earn five caps. At Bastia he has featured eight times so far without registering a goal or an assist.
