Alisontia Steinsel

The Alzette runs through the village that gave the club its Latin name, and it was there, in Steinsel, that a group of locals put a team together in 1933. Nothing about the size of the place has changed since: Steinsel counts roughly 2,000 residents, and Alisontia has spent most of its existence in the lower divisions of the Luxembourg game, for years fixed in the fourth-tier Ehrenpromotion with no particular urgency to move.

That changed in the 2015–16 season, when the club finished runners-up in the third-tier 1. Division. The result did not bring instant promotion, but it set up the climb that followed, and by 2019 Alisontia had reached the second-tier National Division, a level it had never previously occupied.

Since then the club has tested itself in the Luxembourg Cup as a second-tier side, and its run to the round of 16 in 2025–26 is the deepest it has gone in the competition. Home games are played at the Stade Henri Bausch, an artificial pitch holding 1,500 people on the Rue de l'Alzette — a ground sized for exactly what the club is, not for what it might become.

Blue and white marked the team for most of its history before red was added to the club's colours. No rivalry has attached itself to Alisontia in the way it has to clubs from Luxembourg's larger towns, and no academy product or capped international has yet come out of Steinsel to change how the club is known beyond the National Division. A first league title, at any level, still is not among what Alisontia has managed.
