Chasselay MDA

The Derby Calado-Chasselois against FC Villefranche Beaujolais is the fixture the club is measured by, whatever division either side happens to occupy that season.

MDA itself is a merged identity rather than a single lineage. Chasselay Foot and US Anse-Ambérieux combined in 2000 to form Beaujolais Monts d'Or Foot, which absorbed Club Sportif Chazay-Civrieux in 2005 and took the name Monts d'Or Azergues Foot. In 2020 the senior side merged again, with Tassin FC, Champagne Sport and Futsal Saône Mont d'Or, into GOAL FC — though in the lower divisions the club is still known, and still plays, as MDA.

Ludovic Giuly began his youth career here; the ground at Chemin des Alouettes now carries his name. Sidney Govou and Steed Malbranque, both capped by France, have also worn the yellow and red at Chasselay.

The one cup run worth naming came in 2014, when MDA reached the last sixteen of the Coupe de France and knocked out Istres, then a Ligue 2 side. Domestically, the honours are modest and largely historical: the Championnat de France Amateur 2 in 2009–10, the Division d'Honneur Rhône-Alpes in 2005–06.

None of it carries the weight, locally, of beating Villefranche.
