Croatia Zmijavci

The club that carries the name of Zmijavci began in 1974 as NK Kujundžuša, named for the local grapevine, with Petar Milas as its first president. It kept that name until 1991, when Croatian independence prompted the change to NK Croatia Zmijavci.

The honours read like a ladder climbed slowly: the NSO Split Championship in 1981–82, the Dalmatian League in 1987–88, then, after the war years, a run of promotions through the county leagues — the 2. ŽNL Splitsko-dalmatinska in 2000–01, the 1. ŽNL in 2012–13. The club has never reached the top-flight Prva HNL, but it came close. In 2017–18 it won the 3. HNL – Jug and turned down promotion for financial reasons, only to go up anyway the following season after finishing second. The 2019–20 campaign found the club as runners-up in the second tier before the pandemic cut the season short.

The one match still talked about locally came earlier that same 2017–18 season, in the Croatian Cup, when Zmijavci were drawn against Slaven Belupo, then a top-division side, and reached the round of 16. There is no single named derby; the sharper needle comes with Dugopolje and Hrvace, games the local press files under "Dalmatian derby," with Solin regarded as a traditional rival too.

Igor Musa, who played for Hajduk Split and Rijeka, took over as sports director in 2023. The team still plays at Stadion ŠRC Marijan Šuto Mrma, a 1,500-capacity ground in the village, with promotion to the top flight the one line on the club's record that remains unwritten.
