Gossau

FC Gossau took root in the Canton of St. Gallen in 1906 and stayed put ever since, under one name, one town. Its two clearest peaks were separated by two decades: promotion out of the 1. Liga after topping Group East in 1974–75, and a second run in 1995–96, when a play-off win over FC Emmenbrücke, 4–0 on aggregate, sent Gossau back up to the Nationalliga B. Roger Heri, who played for the club before returning to coach it, is remembered as the side's revival of the 1990s.

None of it drew as much attention as a single Swiss Cup tie on 21 October 2007, when Gossau, then well outside the top flight, beat FC St. Gallen 2–0. The club's name also carries a harder association: the match-fixing case of 2009–10, which led to indefinite suspensions for three of its players, Mario Bigoni, Marc Lütolf and Darko Damjanović.

The Arena Buechenwald holds 3,300. Supporters know the team as Blauwiis, the blue-and-white, and reserve their sharpest fixture for FC Uzwil, the St. Galler derby. Sven Lehmann, capped by Switzerland at under-17 and under-19 level, passed through the squad in two spells either side of 2020. The club continues to compete in the lower tiers of Swiss football, still measuring itself against Uzwil and the rest of the regional pack.
