Jakarta hosts the senior national side and, alongside it, the age-group teams built to feed the pipeline into the Indonesian league system, among them the U-20 group known as Garuda Muda. Second-place finishes followed in 1967 and 1970, then a bronze in 1962.
Training and matches run out of the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, with Stadion Madya, holding just over 9,000, serving as the group's own ground within the wider complex the senior team also uses.
No fixture carries more weight than the one against Malaysia U-20, played out as the Derby Melayu. Among those who came through the shirt, Egy Maulana Vikri stands out as the age group's leading scorer, with 15 goals.
