FC Kosmos Dolgoprudny was founded on 12 April 2022 on the base of FC Olymp-Dolgoprudny-2, reviving a name last carried by a club that played in the 1990s. The nickname, Cosmonauts, followed naturally from it. The club built around a youth academy run by Amir Albakov.
Striker Kirill Pomeshkin scored 12 goals in the 2023/24 season, finishing as the club's top marksman before his move to FC Dynamo Makhachkala in 2025. Andrey Proshin took charge as head coach for the club's first three seasons, through 2025, with 51 points from 28 matches. The club has twice reached the third round of the Russian Cup's Regions Path, in 2024 and again in 2025.
