The team now known as RC Lens Féminin traces back to 2001, when the Arras Football Association was formed. It became Arras Football Club Féminin in 2011 and reached Division 1 the following year, only to drop back down in 2015. RC Lens absorbed the Arras club in July 2020, taking on the black-and-gold colours that give the side its nickname, Les Sang et Or. Promotion back to the top flight came in 2025, under head coach Sarah M'Barek, before relegation followed at the end of the 2025–26 season.

Aude Gbedjissi has been among the players carrying the side through that spell, while the Arras years are remembered for Pauline Crammer.

The fixture that matters most is against LOSC Lille. Billed as the Derby du Nord, it carries the weight of the men's rivalry between Lens and Lille into the women's game.
