Mons Calpe

Gibraltar's football has always been squeezed by the geography that defines the place: one enclosed strip of land, one pitch that every top club in the territory shares. Mons Calpe took its name from that same fact of the Rock — the Latin term the Romans used for it — when it was formed in 2013, joining a league where there is no home ground to call its own and, by extension, no derby in the usual sense: whoever they play, they play at the Victoria Stadium, same as everyone else.

The silverware came instead through the reserves: the Intermediate team won the first-ever Gibraltar Intermediate Cup in 2018–19, beating Manchester 62 Intermediate 4–1.

Squads have carried a mix rare for a club this size. Hugo Colace, an Argentina under-20 international, turned out for Mons Calpe across two spells either side of the 2018–19 season, and Ayoub El Hmidi built up 15 caps for Gibraltar while on the club's books.
