Nuneaton Town

Bedworth sits in the shadow of Nuneaton, and for most of its life the town's football club has carried the bigger neighbour's name rather than its own. That tangle runs deep: what started life in 1889 as Nuneaton St. Nicholas became Nuneaton Town five years later, was wound up and rebuilt as Nuneaton Borough in 1937, collapsed into liquidation in 2008 and returned under the old Nuneaton Town name, then swapped back to Borough in 2018. When Nuneaton Borough withdrew from its league in April 2024 over money trouble, supporters formed a new club from scratch, took up the Nuneaton Town name once more, and started again from the bottom.

That phoenix club plays at The Oval, a Bedworth ground shared with Bedworth United, with 300 of those seated. Blue and white stripes and the nickname The Boro carried across from the old club, along with the rivalry that matters most to the town: the A5 Derby against Tamworth.

There isn't much history to point to yet under the new identity, but there is a first trophy: the 2024-25 side won the Midland Football League Division One in its debut season and went straight up to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands. The pre-2024 clubs had their own honours, chief among them the Southern League Premier Division title in 1998-99 and a Birmingham Senior Cup, most recently in 2010.

One promotion in, the new Nuneaton Town has already climbed a division.
