ASD Sarnese 1926 has spent much of its history disappearing and reforming. It ceased operations in 1990, its title passed to Angri, then it came back in 1994. A second collapse followed in 2013, a refoundation under the current name, and a third dissolution in 2019.
That restart paid off within a year: Sarnese won the 2023–24 Eccellenza Campania and added the regional Coppa Italia Dilettanti, results that lifted the club back into Serie D.
The club carries the nickname Ippogrifo, after the hippogriff on its badge, and plays in granata. Its earlier honours reach back through the regional pyramid: Promozione in 1982–83, Prima Categoria in 1970–71, Terza Categoria in 1959–60.
Sarnese was first founded in 1926, in Sarno, in the province of Salerno.
