US Rumelange

Three times in five seasons — 1967-68, 1969-70 and 1971-72 — US Rumelange finished runners-up in the national championship. They never won it. What they did win, in that first of those seasons, was the Luxembourg Cup, which sent a town of a few thousand into the Cup Winners' Cup the following autumn. A second cup came in 1974-75, and with it a second entry into Europe. Two more finals followed, in 1981-82 and 1983-84, both lost. Between 1968 and 1976 the club reached the first round of a European competition four times.

The fall came later and it came slowly. Relegation from the top flight arrived in 2005-06 through a play-off against Mamer; promotion back followed two years after that. This past season, 2025-26, Rumelange won the Division of Honour outright and returned to the Division Nationale again.

Home since June 1934 has been the ground in the new municipal park, opened as the Stade Op Kolscheid and known now as the Stade Municipal. It holds 2,950 — fewer people than the club's better nights would suggest, and roughly what a town of its size can fill.

The blue and white go back to the beginning, and the beginning goes back to 1908, when a handful of men in a mining town put a football club together. Within two years it was one of the founding members of Luxembourg's national league, which is where the rest of it starts.
