Valenii De Munte

The 2024–25 season in Liga IV Prahova ended without a single defeat for Vălenii de Munte: seventeen matches, seventeen wins, a run that earned the squad its nickname among local reporters, The Invincibles. The title the year before, in 2023–24, had come harder — promotion to Liga III was only confirmed after a 2–2 aggregate draw in the play-offs against CSU Știința București was settled on penalties, 4–2.

Cup football brought its own test. In the 2025–26 regional phase of the Cupa României, the team beat ASC Daco-Getica București 5–4, having already reached the round of 16 the previous season and the quarter-finals the one before that.

Bănel Nicoliță, once of Steaua București and the Romania national side, plays for a club whose stadium holds 250 people. The ground, known locally as the Stadionul Orășenesc, has floodlights and an electronic scoreboard despite its size. Iulius Mărgărit, a university professor by trade, coaches the side, while Mugurel Gelu Bîrziloiu serves as president. The club has no website of its own; anyone looking for it goes through the Prahova County Football Association instead.

Matches against CS Câmpina are called the derby of the Prahova Valley, and there is history too with CSO Plopeni and Tricolorul Breaza. Vălenii de Munte City Hall funds the club, which also runs a youth academy of around a hundred children.
