Vrbovec

The record that still gets cited belongs to a Vrbovec side that was playing under the name PIK Vrbovec: the 1994–95 title in the Treća HNL – Sjever, the northern tier of the Third League. Four seasons later the club won its section again, the Center group, in 1998–99. Between those two finishes the badge and the letters over the gate did not stay fixed — the club started out in 1924 as VŠK Zrinski, became Naprijed after the war, was renamed Vrbovec in 1949, went back to Zrinski in 1971, then carried the PIK prefix through three decades before settling on NK Vrbovec in 2001, the name it plays under now.

The biggest fee the club has taken for a player came for Drago Papa, a former Croatia under-17 international, when he moved on to Dinamo Zagreb. Nikola Rak followed a similar path out of Vrbovec toward Dinamo before going abroad to Legia Warsaw and into the Croatia squad, the kind of departure a town-sized club measures its production against.

League placement in Zagreb County has kept NK Dubrava as the fixture people in Vrbovec circle first, with Jarun and Kustošija filling out the calendar most years. Cup form has had its moments too: three separate runs to the Round of 16 of the Croatian Cup, in 2010–11, 2011–12 and 2017–18, without the club going further.

Home games are played at Sajmište, the ground's short name among locals, more formally Gradski stadion kraj Sajmišta. It holds around 4,000, which for a club that colours itself white and blue and answers to Vrbovčani is enough to fill the ground when the derby with Dubrava comes round.
