Al-Markhiya Stadium

The ground sits in the Al Markhiya district of Doha. It is not where the big matches happen, and the club’s presence here is more a matter of local convenience than prestige. The facility opened in the mid-1990s, a time when Qatar’s football infrastructure was being standardised rather than spectacularised.

The pitch is natural grass. The club that calls it home, Al-Markhiya Sports Club, has played in the second tier and occasionally in the top flight.

The capacity is small, often listed as two thousand, though some older figures suggest less. It does not matter much, because the team usually plays at Grand Hamad Stadium or Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium for official league and cup matches.

There is no history of major international events or concerts, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup passed it by without incident.
