Albany State University Coliseum
Albany, United States
Formerly: Albany Municipal Coliseum
The most striking feature of the Albany State University Coliseum is the playing surface. This change from natural grass happened recently, funded by a grant, and it has given the pitch a very clean, uniform look that contrasts sharply with the green hills rising behind it.
The main entrance is marked by a large sign painted in blue and gold, declaring the venue as the home of the Golden Rams. The name has not always been this, as it was once known as the Albany Municipal Coliseum before the university took full ownership of the identity.
It has hosted the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championship, a game that was crucial for the team. The blue turf provides a consistent surface for the team to play on, regardless of the weather. Fans fill the seats for the Fountain City Classic, a rivalry match that always brings people out.
