Dimitris Tofalos Arena

The Dimitris Tofalos Arena sits quietly in the Proastio district. The building opened in 1995. It hosts the local basketball side, Promitheas Patras, and has held volleyball and handball teams since. Its character comes from the renovations that happened in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The lighting went in, the air conditioning followed, and the seats turned a deeper colour. The capacity settled at four thousand two hundred, though the stands can stretch further when a big game comes through.
The floor is parquet, made for the shuffle of basketball shoes. It is a functional space, not a monument. The attendance record of four thousand and fifty came during a EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers match between Greece and the Netherlands on February 24, 2025. The arena also hosted the World Wrestling Championships in Greco-Roman style in 2001. The Greek national team has played qualification matches here. It is not the oldest venue in the city, but it has stayed relevant.
