Hala Sportowa WOSiR

The Hala Sportowa WOSiR in Wieluń. While the hall operates as a multi-use venue for volleyball and handball, it also hosts a two-star hotel called the 'Hotel Maraton' within its walls, which has been running since 2010.

Its most distinct feature is a direct passage connecting it to the I Liceum Ogólnokształcącym, a local high school. The interior, with its synthetic carpet, has undergone a major overhaul in 2023, including new lighting and a fresh surface, following a significant allocation of funds for modernization.

The arena’s history is marked by a brief but intense period of prominence in the Polish PlusLiga. The local club WKS Wieluń hosted matches here during the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons. This era has since been overshadowed by a more recent, controversial chapter.

However, the venue is perhaps best known locally for a different reason. In early 2022, a promoter announced plans to host an MMA gala within the hall. The announcement sparked massive protests from residents and the school council, who condemned the event as promoting 'pathology.' The Mayor of Wieluń withdrew his consent, and the event was cancelled. In the aftermath, online discourse began to refer to the facility by a nickname that stuck.
