Joondalup Sports Complex

Arena Joondalup sits on the outskirts of the Perth metropolitan area, where the sports complex stretches across 35 hectares of parkland. The outdoor oval, known in English as HIF Health Insurance Oval, is surrounded by a large grass hill that gives the ground a natural amphitheatre feel. The complex was developed by LandCorp following the opening in 1994 by the Premier of Western Australia, Richard Court, though the current branding reflects a series of sponsorship changes over the decades.

The arena is home to the Joondalup Wolves basketball team, who moved to the facility in 2018, while the West Perth Football Club has called the oval home since the ground first opened its doors. The seating arrangement is a mix of tiered rows and sloping banks, accommodating crowds that have varied from 12,500 to 16,000 depending on the source. The official attendance record for the sports ground sits at 15,082, set in the year of its inauguration.

It is a space that has seen both sporting history and music festivals. The venue hosted the Rock-It Musical Festival annually from 1999 to 2012, drawing crowds of up to 25,000 people for events that outstripped standard sporting attendance. Recent years have seen the arena host the NBL1 National Finals and the Wildlands Festival, which featured acts such as Ice Spice and Fisher. The ground remains a central hub for local sport, hosting the Perth RedStar FC and the Joondalup Giants rugby league team alongside the basketball club.
