Kırklareli Atatürk Stadyumu

The Kırklareli Atatürk Stadyumu sits in the Karakaş neighbourhood.

A Turkish flag flies from a pole on the roof, a familiar sight in provincial Turkey. The surface beneath the players is artificial turf, a change made during a major renovation that began in 2012. Before that, local sources said the grass was natural, but the switch to synthetic material has been in place long enough now that the older claims are forgotten. The renovation was expensive—8 million Turkish Lira—and it rebuilt the old stands entirely, giving the ground its current, if modest, form.

The stadium is the home of Kırklarelispor, a club that plays in the TFF 2. Lig. The relationship has been steady, even if the club’s fortunes have not always mirrored the ambition of the venue. The highest recorded attendance was a cup match against Adana Demirspor in 2020, when the official capacity of 3,750 was overwhelmed by 13,000 people. The crowd spilled out past the gates, filling the stands to capacity and others watching from outside via screens or nearby rooftops. The ground has also hosted cultural events, such as the Kırklareli University 2025 Graduation Concert, proving it still serves the city beyond the football pitch.
